Mother of all parties
We hit Kelly's Inn for the Mother of all parties. The Mother part comes from Paul's Mum, Susan McDermott who lived in the Fivemiletown area, County Tyrone. Susan moved to London and trained as a nurse before coming out to Perth where she met and married William Connolly from Belfast. Paul knew 2 of his cousins on his mother's side before the party. Betty Flynn nee Corrigan who lives in Perth and Mary O'Neill who lives here in Fintona. Mary had been the contact for rsvp's and when we rang her to ask how many new relations we were going to meet she said 19 in her lovely Irish accent. As the conversation progressed we realised that Mary had actually said 90. Paul went white, and was quiet which is not like Paul. "What's the matter" I asked. Paul replied " I was just getting my head around remembering 19 new names, how am I going to remember 90".
It was really great to meet everyone who had stories to tell Paul, Mick and Trac about their Mother. As per usual in the Irish style we partied until very early in the morning. We also celebrated Imogen's 11th birthday and she shared a cake with her Uncle Pauly.
Cousin Mary and Cousin Betty took us for a tour to where Paul's Mum Susan had lived on the family farm and where she went to school. We also visited the graves where Paul's Grandparents and other relatives are buried.
